Today I had to run a CBE–that’s a “Car-Based Errand,” in the jargon I’ve just made up. And I know what you’re wondering, too:

[“Couldn’t you have run that errand in a cargo bike?”]
Oh, shut up.
Anyway, since I’d already be using the old Family Truckster, I figured I might as well squeeze in a ride, and so I stuck the AMP Research B-3 in the back before heading out:

The AMP Research is quite diminutive by modern all-terrain bicycle standards–especially when you’ve grown used to something like this, as I have:

And while this may be a disadvantage on challenging terrain, the fact that it’s so easy to toss into the car on the spur of the moment almost makes up for it. It’s also quite nimble, which makes it lots of fun on trails like this:

Though coming down this I felt dangerously close to going over the bars:

And that’s with both an angled stem and a riser bar:

Nevertheless I managed to make it through the woods unscathed, and not only that, but I enjoyed every pedal stroke:

And while the AMP doesn’t inspire as much confidence as a bike like the Jones, I sure felt a lot safer than this guy:

And yes, I absolutely did take that photo while I was driving.
Oh, shut up.
