My name is Eben Weiss. In June of 2007, as urban cycling was becoming increasingly popular and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with my job, I started an anonymous blog called Bike Snob NYC. The “About Me” read thusly:
While I love cycling and embrace it in all its forms, I’m also extremely critical. So I present to you my venting for your amusement and betterment. No offense meant to the critiqued. Always keep riding!
In 2010, thanks to the success of my blog, I published my first book, at which point I stopped writing anonymously. Here are the books I’ve written to date:
BIKE SNOB [Chronicle Books, 2010]
THE ENLIGHTENED CYCLIST [Chronicle Books, 2012]
BIKE SNOB ABROAD [Chronicle Books, 2013]
THE ULTIMATE BICYCLE OWNER’S MANUAL [Black Dog & Leventhal, 2016]
In 2020 I finally stopped blogging at the old Blogger domain and shifted Bike Snob NYC here to its current location. (All that old stuff lives here.) I update this blog most weekdays.
From 2017 to 2020 I was a columnist with Outside magazine, and from June 2019 to March 2020 I also hosted a weekly radio show on WBAI 99.5 FM in New York City on Mondays at 10am. (Programs are available in WBAI’s archives.)
Besides that, I continue to write as both Eben Weiss and Bike Snob NYC in various publications. But this is always the best place to find me.
Thank you for reading.
